CopperString Experience Centre
The CopperString Experience Centre, located in Townsville’s CBD, was created to help the public understand the future of Queensland’s energy. Showcasing the role of the North West Minerals Province and renewable power, the space needed to translate technical infrastructure into an experience that would capture attention and inspire curiosity.
The Centre launched with impact at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, where a pop-up Experience Centre was staged at the main gate during a Cowboys game. A launch film produced for the occasion played on the big screen, while animated signage across the stadium introduced CopperString to thousands of fans.
Our production team developed innovative solutions to make this possible. A custom 360° filming rig was engineered to attach to an inspection helicopter, capturing every angle of a flight along the transmission line. This footage was transformed into a simulator experience where visitors can climb into a cockpit, take off over the landscape and hear the real-time communications between pilots and line crews. The result is an interactive centrepiece that immerses audiences in the CopperString story.
We also documented the construction of the Centre itself using multi-angle 360° time-lapse filming. Displayed within the exhibition, this feature provides visitors with a behind-the-scenes look at how the space was built from the ground up.
Alongside these immersive productions, our design team created the visual framework to extend the CopperString Experience Centre across multiple channels. Social media content, event signage and collateral carried the same bold, forward-looking identity, ensuring the project was consistently represented both in-person and online.
Together, these executions positioned the CopperString Experience Centre as more than an exhibition. It became an immersive brand experience — one that demonstrates how innovative storytelling and strong design can transform complex subject matter into something people can truly engage with.
